Director's Welcome

Lillian LienAs director of the UMMC Department of Medicine’s Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Diabetes, I am honored to work with a devoted group of talented faculty, advanced practice practitioners, fellows, nurses and staff, all committed to state-of-the-art endocrine patient care.  In the past five years, our division has tripled in size, and we plan for continual growth and recruitment.

The Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Diabetes is proud to be the state’s only academic endocrinology division. As such, we are committed to statewide initiatives to battle key chronic diseases, including the diabetes epidemic, osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease, and chronic thyroid conditions. Our division provides excellent clinical care with outpatient and inpatient consultative services in diabetes management, thyroid disorders, bone and calcium metabolism, pituitary and adrenal, obesity, and all types of subspecialty endocrine disorders.

UMMC Endocrinology is absolutely dedicated to training both present and future generations of diabetes and endocrinology specialists, while also pursuing ground-breaking treatments, as well as prevention, of endocrine and metabolic disorders. We strive to provide these services while also prioritizing the patient care experience, ensuring our patients receive thorough and compassionate care.

We welcome your interest in our division!
